Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between "traducteur assermenté" and a Swedish authorised translator?+
A "traducteur assermenté" is the French-local equivalent — appointed by a French Court of Appeal (Cour d'Appel). For documents used in Sweden or in EU procedures a Swedish authorised translator is equivalent. For French courts (Tribunal Judiciaire) a local traducteur assermenté may be required. We guide you in both cases.
Does the French consulate in Stockholm accept Swedish certified translations?+
For visa matters — generally yes, combined with apostille (France is a Hague member). For citizenship and marriage matters before French authorities additional authentication may be required. We work daily with the French consulate in Stockholm and know the current requirements.
Do you translate for French-speaking African countries (Senegal, Morocco, Ivory Coast)?+
Yes. These countries accept French translation but often require embassy legalization (not all are Hague members). We handle the entire process: certified French translation → notarization → MFA → respective embassy. Morocco and Algeria have their own consulates in Stockholm.
What does French translation cost?+
From 495 SEK ex VAT for a standard document. French pricing is comparable to English and German. We provide a fixed quote before translation begins.
