Frequently asked questions

Must my Arabic translation be embassy-legalized for UAE/Saudi/Egypt?+
Yes, almost always. Arab countries are not part of the Hague Apostille Convention and require a full consular chain: notarization → MFA → Arab embassy. DOX handles the entire process and is a registered courier with all relevant embassies in Stockholm.
What is the difference between Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and dialects?+
Official documents are always translated into Modern Standard Arabic (Al-Fusha) — that is the only form accepted by authorities, courts and universities across the Arab world. Our authorised translators write MSA. Dialects (Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf) are used only in spoken contexts.
How long does Arabic translation + embassy legalization take?+
The translation takes 3–7 working days. Embassy legalization takes an additional 5–15 working days depending on the embassy — Saudi Arabia and Egypt tend to be fastest, UAE typically requires 7–10 days. We plan the entire chain so you get a realistic total upfront.
Can you translate Arabic documents to Swedish for the Migration Agency?+
Yes. We regularly translate Syrian, Iraqi, Lebanese and Palestinian documents (birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas) to Swedish for Migration Agency asylum and family reunification cases. Translation is performed by an authorised translator and is always accepted by the Migration Agency.
What does Arabic translation cost?+
From 595 SEK ex VAT for a standard document. The price is slightly higher than English due to the limited pool of authorised Arabic translators in Sweden (approximately 15 individuals according to Kammarkollegiet). We provide a fixed quote before starting.
