Ghana Visa from Sweden

Swedish citizens require a visa to enter Ghana — there is no visa-free exemption. Since 2024 the Ghana e-Visa (online application) simplifies the process for shorter trips, but a traditional sticker visa is still needed for longer stays, press coverage and certain other purposes.

Ghana has NO embassy in Sweden — paper visa applications go via the Ghanaian Embassy in Copenhagen, while e-Visa is processed entirely via the Ghana e-Visa portal online. DOX handles the entire process: document review, e-Visa application, coordination with Copenhagen for paper visas, yellow fever coordination and secure passport handling.

Do Swedish citizens need a Ghana visa?

Yes — all Swedish citizens need a visa to enter Ghana regardless of trip length or purpose. Ghana has NO visa-free exemption for Schengen/EU citizens.

Since 2024 the Ghana e-Visa (online application) is the easiest option for short visits up to 30 days. For longer stays (60–90 days), business assignments or press coverage a traditional sticker visa from the Ghanaian Embassy in Copenhagen is used.

DOX handles all visa types — we guide you to the right format based on purpose, length of stay and whether you plan work or press coverage. We prepare the application, review photos/documents and submit at the right place.

Ghana e-Visa — the easiest option

For most Swedish travellers Ghana e-Visa is the right choice. Launched in 2024, the entire process is online — your passport is not sent in. Faster handling and cheaper than paper visa:

  • Tourist e-Visa: up to 30 days (1 entry)
  • Business e-Visa: up to 30 days (1 entry) — meetings, conferences
  • Fully online application + digital payment
  • Approval as PDF emailed to you (print and bring)
  • Standard processing 5–10 business days
  • Entry airport: Kotoka International Airport (Accra)

NOTE! e-Visa CANNOT be used for longer stays (>30 days), press coverage, journalism, missionary work, employment or studies. A traditional visa from the Ghanaian Embassy in Copenhagen is required.
