Brazil is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention of 1961. This means Swedish documents only need a single apostille — issued in Sweden by a Notary Public (Notarius Publicus), not the Ministry for Foreign Affairs — to be recognized as authentic in Brazil — no embassy step is required.
Apostille is faster and cheaper than the full embassy chain non-Hague countries require. Private documents (birth certificates, marriage certificates, education diplomas etc.) still need to be notarized by Notarius Publicus first, but company documents from Bolagsverket and Skatteverket can be apostilled by the Notary Public directly.
